Does anyone else think Romeo and Juliet is a little far fetched?

I can't but think, although Romeo and Juliet (I'm talking about the 1996 version with Leonardo Dicaprio and Claire Danes) is a beautiful touching movie, that its so far fetched! I mean they meet once at a party, start kissing straight away without even telling eachother their names, then the next day romeo asks for her hand in marriage, anyone else think its a bit far fetched? I know its just a movie but i cant help but think its very unrealistic.
