Why do I keep experiencing conversation roadblocks esp. with women?

I used to pretty good at making conversation with women i liked or women in general but after work began i've been more isolated because I have a lot of work. Now whenever i try to make conversation with a girl, it always comes off bad, she may seem interested at first then after a few minutes it becomes a neutral platonic atmosphere. I usually ask them what they do, how their day was..after that everything else seems forced and i have no idea what else to speak about. Also do women like men that correct them? If they say something thats half true, is it annoying when their date tells them the other half?
