Please help! what is the difference in flex fuel and regular gas?

My car is an Avenger and it is flex fuel. I checked the net and it says that it can run on regular gas or ethanol (E85). What does this mean? Is there somewhere that I can buy ethanol gas? I just don't understand this whole flex fuel thing. Please help!
